Manitoba Targets Global Talent with Latest Skilled Worker Invitations

Maple News reports that the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has issued new invitations to skilled foreign workers as part of its Provincial Nominee Program selection held on April 17, 2024. In total, 27 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were extended through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.

To be eligible for this round of selections, candidates had to be directly invited by the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative and achieve a minimum ranking score of 621. These strategic initiatives aim to proactively attract talent from abroad to support Manitoba’s evolving labor market.

In a focused effort to accelerate the onboarding of qualified talent within high-need industries, the MPNP also invited skilled candidates already residing and working in Manitoba. Notably, these individuals are fully licensed to practice in regulated occupations—highlighting the province’s commitment to matching immigration pathways with real-time workforce needs.

Of the 27 individuals invited, three had active Express Entry profiles and valid Job Seeker validation codes. While Express Entry profiles are not mandatory for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, having one offers candidates broader options for immigration and faster processing through the federal system.

LAAs serve as official invitations for candidates to apply for a provincial nomination, which, if approved, can significantly boost their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score under Canada’s Express Entry framework.

Manitoba uses strategic recruitment initiatives to address labor shortages in collaboration with local employers. Participating employers are required to follow specific recruitment protocols set out by the province, ensuring that international hires are aligned with long-term economic goals and industry demands.

This latest draw reflects Manitoba’s ongoing strategy to attract and retain skilled professionals from around the world, while also supporting provincial industries seeking qualified workers amid shifting labor market dynamics.

Maple News will continue to provide updates on MPNP and other immigration pathways as provinces across Canada actively seek international talent to drive economic growth.
