Manitoba Shatters Record with Unprecedented Express Entry Draw, Invites 1,140 Applicants for Provincial Nomination

Maple News reports that Manitoba continues to make waves in Canada’s immigration landscape. On July 27, the province conducted its largest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw to date, issuing 1,140 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to Express Entry candidates—setting a new all-time record for a single draw.

All invitations were extended under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). To be considered, candidates needed to have already submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the Manitoba government and had to attain a minimum EOI score of 557, based on Manitoba’s unique scoring system.

This milestone surpasses Manitoba’s previous record, set less than a month earlier on June 28, when 1,017 Express Entry candidates were invited.

It’s important to note that the score required in this draw is based on Manitoba’s EOI system, which differs from the federal Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) used in standard Express Entry selections. No CRS score was needed for consideration in this draw.

Once nominated by Manitoba, candidates receive 600 additional points in the CRS, significantly boosting their overall rankings and virtually ensuring an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence. This advantage makes PNP-linked selections a highly strategic entry point for newcomers aiming to settle in Canada.

Express Entry is Canada’s flagship immigration system for managing applications under three federal programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Candidates who enter the Express Entry pool are ranked based on factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

While it’s possible to receive an ITA directly through regular Express Entry draws, obtaining a provincial nomination significantly increases a candidate’s chances of success.

With this record-breaking draw, Manitoba reaffirms its role as a dynamic province within Canada’s immigration framework—opening doors for skilled workers across the globe to make the province their new home.
