Maple News reports that the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) ended 2025 with a significant Expression of Interest (EOI) draw on December 31, issuing 421 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to skilled workers aiming to settle in the province.
This year-end draw focused on both regional labour market needs and Manitoba’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare and community services. Of the total LAAs, 353 were issued under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway, part of the broader Skilled Worker Stream. These invitations were extended specifically to candidates employed in select health-related occupations within the province.
To qualify, applicants needed to demonstrate ongoing employment in Manitoba and have listed one of the targeted National Occupational Classification (NOC) unit groups in their profiles. The selected occupations included senior healthcare managers (NOC 00013), health information management professionals (NOC 12111), biologists (NOC 21110), therapists and counsellors (NOC 41301), and caregivers (NOC 44101), among others.
In addition to the occupation-specific selection, another 68 LAAs were allocated to candidates who were directly invited through MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment initiatives. These pathways are part of the broader Skilled Worker Stream, which includes Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas categories. This initiative aims to attract talent in alignment with Manitoba’s long-term economic and community growth objectives.
Breakdown of the strategic recruitment invites shows a diverse distribution: 32 invitations went to candidates involved with regional communities, 13 to members of Francophone communities, and 13 to individuals engaged with ethnocultural communities. A further 7 invitations were issued in partnership with employer services, while 3 LAAs were allocated under a temporary public policy designed to facilitate work permits for potential PNP nominees.
The timing of this draw—on New Year’s Eve—highlights Manitoba’s proactive approach in welcoming skilled newcomers and aligning immigration with the province’s labour needs. As healthcare, social services, and regional development remain top priorities for Manitoba, these draws continue to play a vital role in addressing critical sector shortages.
Applicants who receive a provincial nomination through MPNP gain 600 additional points under the federal Express Entry system, significantly increasing their chances of obtaining permanent residency in Canada.
Maple News notes that MPNP draws are held regularly and encourage interested candidates to maintain up-to-date EOI profiles that align with Manitoba’s evolving labour priorities.
