Maple News reports that the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held its latest draw on February 12, extending 29 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to skilled workers through both domestic and international streams. This marks the province’s first draw of the month and highlights Manitoba’s ongoing effort to meet labor market demands with foreign and locally-based talent.
Invitations were issued under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas streams, with eligible candidates selected based on their participation in various strategic recruitment initiatives. These initiatives are targeted programs designed to attract talent in sectors facing acute labor shortages across the province.
According to MPNP’s release, the 29 invitations were distributed across five distinct strategic initiatives: 8 candidates were selected through the Employer Services pathway, 14 through Francophone Community recruitment, 3 from Regional Communities, 1 from Ethnocultural Communities, and 3 under a Temporary Public Policy (TPP) facilitating work permits for select PNP candidates. Notably, six of the invitees had valid Express Entry profiles, positioning them for faster processing.
Strategic recruitment initiatives serve as a crucial bridge between Manitoba employers and skilled international workers. These programs enable the province to address specific labor needs that cannot be met locally, with recruitment efforts often supported by exploratory visits or formal hiring missions conducted abroad and within Canada.
Candidates typically become eligible for these initiatives after attending in-person interviews during a recruitment event or exploratory trip. These interactions provide Manitoba immigration officials a chance to assess candidates’ adaptability and suitability for settlement in the province.
By leveraging targeted selection streams, Manitoba ensures a focused approach to immigration that aligns with both economic priorities and community development strategies. The MPNP remains a key immigration avenue for skilled individuals aiming to live and work in Manitoba, especially those tied to local employers and emerging demographic needs.
With ongoing draws and frequent recruitment activities, the MPNP continues to prioritize strategic hiring for selected communities, including Francophone populations and regions outside Winnipeg, to support balanced immigration growth across Manitoba.
Maple News will continue to monitor future draws and policy updates from the MPNP and other provincial programs across Canada.
