Maple News reports that Manitoba has invited 296 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through its latest draw under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), held on February 12, 2021. This marks the third MPNP draw of the year, offering skilled workers and recent graduates a pathway to Canadian permanent residence.
The invitations—officially known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs)—were distributed across three key immigration streams: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education Stream. Here’s a breakdown of the invitations:
– Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 240 LAAs issued with a minimum required score of 514
– Skilled Workers Overseas: 23 LAAs issued with a minimum required score of 676
– International Education Stream: 33 LAAs issued with no minimum score requirement
Notably, 20 candidates invited in this draw also had profiles in the federal Express Entry system. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Manitoba gain an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, effectively ensuring they receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Express Entry is Canada’s flagship system for managing skilled worker applications. Candidates are assessed based on age, education, language proficiency, and work experience. Regular Express Entry draws typically occur bi-weekly, with the highest-ranking profiles receiving invitations to apply.
To be considered for Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the province. The MPNP then ranks candidates on a 1,000-point scale, taking into account human capital criteria and connections to Manitoba, such as prior education, work experience, or family ties in the province.
Manitoba continues to be an attractive option for newcomers due to its inclusive immigration policies and strong employment market. With regular PNP draws targeting in-demand occupations and international talent, the province plays a vital role in supporting Canada’s broader immigration goals.
Maple News will continue to monitor provincial and federal immigration developments closely to provide up-to-date and reliable information to immigration candidates worldwide.
