Manitoba Issues 213 Invitations to Immigration Candidates in Latest PNP Draw

Maple News reports that the Government of Manitoba has invited 213 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in its most recent draw held on August 28. This draw is part of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), which targets skilled workers and international graduates seeking to settle in the province.

The invitations—formally known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs)—were issued through three MPNP streams: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education Stream. The distribution of LAAs for this draw is as follows:

– 171 LAAs were issued under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, with a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 475.
– 8 LAAs went to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates, who required a high minimum EOI score of 824.
– 34 LAAs were issued under the International Education Stream, which does not have an EOI score requirement.

Among the total invitations, 23 candidates held a valid Express Entry profile. These individuals will benefit from receiving an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score if nominated, significantly increasing their chances of being invited to apply for permanent residency by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

To be considered under the Skilled Worker and Overseas streams, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest to Manitoba’s EOI system. Candidates are then assessed on a 1,000-point scale that evaluates key human capital factors such as language proficiency, education, professional experience, and connections to Manitoba.

Including this draw, Manitoba has issued a total of 3,299 LAAs across all PNP streams so far in 2020. Since the MPNP’s inception in April 2014, this marks the program’s 97th draw.

Maple News notes that the Manitoba PNP remains a vital route for candidates aiming to strengthen their chances of settling in Canada, especially in a province actively looking to grow its skilled labor force and retain international graduates.
