Manitoba Issues 150 Immigration Invitations in Latest Provincial Draw

Maple News reports that the province of Manitoba invited 150 immigration candidates in its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, held on May 6. These selected candidates are now eligible to apply for a provincial nomination through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), which significantly supports their application for Canadian permanent residence.

This draw targeted candidates across three key immigration streams within the MPNP: Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education Stream. Here’s how the invitations were distributed:

– Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 104 invitations issued with a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score requirement of 400
– Skilled Workers Overseas: 29 invitations with a minimum EOI score of 703
– International Education Stream: 13 invitations issued, with no EOI score requirement

Additionally, 14 of the invitations went to candidates who had an active Express Entry profile, allowing them to benefit from a streamlined processing pathway to permanent residence.

The MPNP is a provincial initiative that allows local authorities to identify and nominate candidates who align with Manitoba’s labour market needs and economic goals. Although Canadian provinces cannot grant permanent residence directly, a provincial nomination greatly enhances an applicant’s federal immigration application.

To qualify for consideration under Manitoba’s Skilled Worker streams, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. Applicants are then evaluated on a 1,000-point scale that considers human capital factors such as age, education, work experience, and Manitoba connections, including family ties or past experience in the province.

The Skilled Workers Overseas stream is particularly valuable to candidates living outside of Canada. Eligibility in this stream is often based on having ties to the province or receiving an invitation through Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.

Manitoba continues to be a leading destination for newcomers, with its immigration programs designed to attract individuals who can contribute to the province’s workforce and integrate successfully into the community.

As the federal and provincial governments collaborate to meet Canada’s immigration targets, draws like Manitoba’s May 6 round remain key pathways toward building a strong and diverse immigrant population.
