Manitoba Issues 142 Provincial Nomination Invitations in June 7 PNP Draw

Maple News reports that Manitoba has invited 142 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held on June 7, 2024. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) offers a vital path to permanent residency for skilled workers and international graduates aiming to live and work in the province.

The distribution of invitations, known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), was as follows:

– Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 95 candidates with a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 375
– Skilled Workers Overseas: 25 candidates with a minimum EOI score of 703
– International Education Stream: 22 candidates with no EOI score requirement

Out of the total invitations issued, 13 went to candidates with active Express Entry profiles. These applicants can benefit from faster processing if nominated, as having both an Express Entry profile and a provincial nomination significantly boosts their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Compared to the previous draw on May 25, which invited 232 candidates, this draw represents a more targeted selection approach. Manitoba continues to adapt its invitation rounds based on labor market demands and provincial priorities. Notably, a recent earlier draw broke with traditional patterns by inviting 404 Express Entry candidates—an unusual spike compared to typical draws.

To be eligible for consideration under the Skilled Worker streams, applicants must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to MPNP. This system ranks candidates based on factors such as education, work experience, and connections to Manitoba. Those with high scores or in-demand skills are more likely to receive an invitation.

The International Education Stream remains a notable route for international graduates of Manitoba institutions, offering a streamlined pathway without requiring a formal EOI score. This reflects the province’s commitment to retaining talent educated within its borders.

While provincial governments like Manitoba cannot grant permanent residency directly, a provincial nomination significantly supports a candidate’s application to the federal government. Once nominated, individuals can apply for permanent residency with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The MPNP continues to play a foundational role in attracting skilled immigrants, international graduates, and experienced workers to contribute to Manitoba’s economic growth and diversity.
