Manitoba Invites 243 Candidates in Latest Provincial Nominee Draw

Maple News reports that the province of Manitoba has issued 243 invitations to immigration candidates through its most recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, held on April 8. These invitations allow candidates to apply for a provincial nomination—a crucial step toward obtaining permanent residency in Canada.

The draw selected candidates across three immigration streams managed by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP): Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education Stream. Invitations, officially referred to as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), were distributed as follows:

– 208 invitations under Skilled Workers in Manitoba, with a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 456;
– 14 invitations under Skilled Workers Overseas, with a minimum EOI score of 708;
– 21 invitations under the International Education Stream, which does not have a minimum EOI score requirement.

Of the total 243 LAAs, 15 were issued to candidates who had declared a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code, highlighting Manitoba’s commitment to aligning its immigration efforts with federal pathways.

The Manitoba PNP is designed to attract international talent to meet the province’s labor market and demographic needs. While Canadian provinces cannot issue permanent residency themselves, provincial nominations play a key role in strengthening a candidate’s profile when applying for permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

To be considered under the Skilled Worker streams, candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest, after which they receive a ranking out of 1,000 points based on factors such as work experience, education, language skills, and their ties to Manitoba. Connections to the province—including family relationships, previous work or study experience, or participation in recruitment missions—are critical for eligibility, especially under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream.

The International Education Stream, geared toward graduates from Manitoba post-secondary institutions, provides a path for international students to remain in the province and contribute to its workforce.

This latest draw showcases Manitoba’s ongoing efforts to welcome skilled newcomers who can fill key job vacancies and integrate into the provincial economy and community.

For prospective immigrants, receiving a provincial nomination significantly enhances the likelihood of success under the federal Express Entry system, boosting Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores by 600 points.

Maple News will continue to follow Manitoba’s immigration draws and provide timely updates for applicants looking to advance their Canadian immigration journey.
