Manitoba Begins 2025 with Targeted PNP Draw for Skilled Workers

Maple News reports that on January 15, 2025, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its first immigration draw of the year, exclusively inviting skilled workers through a strategic recruitment initiative under the Skilled Worker Stream.

A total of 55 candidates received Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in what is officially listed as Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #262. Invitations were issued only to those who had previously declared, in their EOI profiles, that they were invited by Manitoba through a strategic recruitment effort.

The MPNP tapped into two primary pathways within its Skilled Worker Stream: Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas. These targeted invitations reflect Manitoba’s continued emphasis on addressing labor market needs by recruiting workers who are most likely to integrate successfully into the province’s workforce and communities.

Of the 55 LAAs, the largest share—21 invitations—were issued through the Employer Services initiative, which partners with Manitoba-based employers to recruit international talent. Other initiatives contributing to this draw include Regional Communities (15 LAAs), Ethnocultural Communities (9 LAAs), Francophone Community (7 LAAs), and the Temporary Public Policy for Work Permits for PNP candidates (TPP), which issued 3 LAAs.

Additionally, 10 of the total invited candidates reported having a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code, making them eligible for enhanced PNP nomination and potentially faster federal processing.

Through strategic draws like this, Manitoba continues to sharpen its focus on economic immigration while supporting regional development and addressing employer needs. The province’s use of targeted recruitment efforts signals a proactive immigration strategy for 2025, aligning with national goals to attract skilled newcomers across Canada.

As Manitoba ramps up its immigration activity for the new year, prospective applicants are encouraged to stay updated on recruitment missions and MPNP announcements to improve their chances of receiving an invitation in future draws.
