IRCC Invites 2,500 French-Speaking Candidates in Third Express Entry Draw of the Week

Maple News reports that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its third Express Entry draw of the week, inviting 2,500 candidates with strong French language proficiency to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The draw, held on August 8, required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 481. Eligible candidates must have submitted their Express Entry profile before 5:16 a.m. UTC on July 18, 2025.

This draw emphasizes Canada’s ongoing effort to attract francophone immigrants, particularly to strengthen French-speaking communities outside of Quebec. It also marks the 51st Express Entry draw of 2025, continuing the trend of targeted selections through category-based draws introduced in 2023.

Earlier this week, IRCC held two other draws: one on August 7 for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates, issuing 1,000 invitations with a cut-off CRS score of 534, and another on August 6 for candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), issuing 225 invitations with a cut-off of 739.

In total, IRCC has issued 53,128 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Express Entry system so far this year. Throughout 2025, most draws have targeted PNP candidates, followed by those in the CEC, French-speaking applicants, and individuals in key occupational categories such as healthcare, education, and social services.

So far this year, IRCC has conducted 14 PNP draws, 8 CEC draws, 4 draws focused on French-language proficiency, and 3 for healthcare roles. There has also been a single draw dedicated to candidates in the education sector. This targeted strategy is part of Canada’s broader efforts to meet labour market needs and demographic goals.

The increasing frequency of French-speaking draws also reflects Canada’s official bilingualism and its commitment to promoting linguistic diversity in its immigration system. By encouraging francophone immigration, especially to underrepresented regions, Canada aims to enhance cultural inclusion and strengthen minority language communities.

Applicants selected in this most recent draw will receive an official Invitation to Apply, bringing them one step closer to gaining Canadian permanent residency. Candidates who continue to meet language, education, and work experience criteria aligned with Canada’s immigration targets are advised to maintain up-to-date Express Entry profiles to remain competitive.

Maple News will continue to provide timely updates on all Express Entry rounds and related immigration developments across Canada.
