Final Call: Deadline Approaches for 2025 IEC Work Permit Applications

Maple News reports that the window is closing for young professionals hoping to participate in Canada’s International Experience Canada (IEC) program for 2025. Foreign nationals aged between 18 and 35 (or 30 in some countries) must submit their profiles to be considered for a work permit before 9:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on October 20, 2025.

The IEC program, administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), offers a streamlined path for youth from partner countries to work and travel in Canada without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). However, due to limited spaces and high demand, the IEC operates on a randomized draw system. This means submitting a profile does not guarantee an invitation to apply but is nonetheless required for eligibility.

Those selected in upcoming rounds will be invited to formally apply for a Canadian work permit under one of IEC’s categories, which include Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op (Internship). If you’re not selected or miss this deadline, your next opportunity will be when the 2026 pool opens, expected early next year.

IRCC has confirmed that the final invitation round for the 2025 season will occur the week of October 20. With the pools closing soon, this is the last chance to submit a profile for this year’s intake.

Participation in the IEC program is open to citizens of more than 30 countries that have bilateral agreements with Canada. Depending on the partner country, the upper age limit for eligibility ranges from 30 to 35 years old. As of October 10, all participating countries—except the Netherlands—have active IEC pools accepting profiles.

Countries with age limits up to 35 include Australia, France, Ireland, Germany, and Chile, among others. Countries like Sweden, Japan, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands have an upper age limit of 30. A full list of eligible countries and age limits is available through IRCC.

Prospective applicants can check their chances of receiving an invitation by viewing the latest odds for selection, based on their nationality and chosen IEC category, through IRCC’s official website.

For young professionals aiming to gain international work experience in Canada, the IEC program remains a unique and highly sought-after pathway. With the deadline approaching fast, now is the time to act.
