British Columbia Invites 56 Tech Professionals in Latest Provincial Nominee Draw

Maple News reports that British Columbia has issued 56 new invitations to eligible tech professionals to apply for provincial nomination through the BC PNP Tech stream. The draw was held on July 13 and targets skilled workers and international graduates with expertise in high-demand technology roles.

The BC PNP Tech is a specialized pathway under the broader British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) designed to address the province’s ongoing talent shortages in the tech sector. Candidates must qualify through either the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories, both of which are managed via the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

To qualify for this round, invited applicants needed to score at least 80 points in the provincial assessment. They now have 30 calendar days to submit a full application for nomination to the provincial government.

Originally launched as a pilot program in 2017, the BC PNP Tech has since become a permanent part of B.C.’s immigration strategy, after its effectiveness in helping local employers access qualified global talent. The program requires candidates to have a full-time job offer in one of 29 eligible tech occupations, with the offer lasting for at least 12 months and having at least 120 days remaining at the time of the application.

Unlike general BC PNP streams, the Tech pathway issues invitations on a weekly basis, allowing B.C. to consistently respond to labor market needs. This fast-track immigration route is especially appealing to international tech professionals and recent graduates seeking permanent residency in Canada.

Once nominated, candidates can apply for permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) pathway. Most tech-related nominations are processed within two to three months, making it one of the more efficient routes to Canadian immigration.

British Columbia continues to position itself as a tech-driven economy, and through this initiative, it reinforces its commitment to attracting skilled professionals who can support the province’s economic growth.

Maple News will continue monitoring and reporting on provincial nominee developments across Canada to keep candidates informed of the latest immigration opportunities.
