Brandon, Manitoba Announces Designated Employers for Rural Immigration Pathway

Maple News reports that Brandon, Manitoba—one of the province’s primary urban centres—has released its official list of designated employers for the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP). This marks a significant step forward in the city’s commitment to attract skilled foreign workers and address local labour shortages.

The RCIP is a federal immigration initiative tailored to smaller communities in Canada, allowing them to nominate foreign nationals for permanent residence through local employment. In Brandon, the program covers a 25-kilometre radius that includes the City of Brandon and surrounding rural areas such as Brandon Hills, Chater, Cornwallis, and Riverdale.

To qualify for the Brandon RCIP, applicants must secure a job offer from one of the city’s designated employers. These include notable organizations such as Maple Leaf Foods, Prairie Mountain Health (Brandon location only), Koch Fertilizer Canada ULC, Gateway Mechanical Services Inc., and Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P., among others.

Medical sector employers like Brandon Clinic and The Wellness Clinic are actively hiring licensed family and specialist physicians. Candidates not yet licensed in Canada may still apply if they are pursuing a valid path towards Canadian medical licensure. Prairie Mountain Health’s eligibility is limited to its Brandon-based facility, and candidates must be eligible to practice healthcare in Canada.

Employer participation in the program will evolve, with the designated list expected to be updated regularly as community needs shift. In addition to holding a job offer from a designated employer, applicants must ensure the position aligns with Brandon’s specific priority occupations under the RCIP.

Applicants are also required to meet federal eligibility criteria, which typically include language proficiency, educational background, relevant work experience, and a demonstrated intention to reside in the community long-term. Full guidelines are available through official Canadian immigration channels.

Brandon’s active involvement in the RCIP highlights its strategic efforts to support both economic growth and community development through thoughtfully managed immigration. The city’s participation reinforces its role as a hub for opportunity in rural Manitoba.

Maple News will continue to monitor and report on updates to the list of designated employers and further developments in rural immigration pathways across Canada.
