Maple News reports that Alberta has retroactively published its final February draw under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), inviting workers with job offers in rural communities within the province to apply for provincial nomination. The February 26 draw followed a Tourism and Hospitality Stream draw conducted just two days earlier, marking Alberta’s 13th draw of 2026.
On March 4, the AAIP updated its draw page to include the 10 February draw, which invited provincial nominees through the Rural Renewal Stream. In that draw, 30 invitations were issued with a minimum score of 55.
This event represents Alberta’s second Rural Renewal Stream draw in 2026; the first Rural Renewal draw in February featured a similar score cut-off (54) but issued a much higher number of invitations—212.
Eligibility for the Rural Renewal Stream to obtain permanent residence through the AAIP includes: an Endorsement of Candidate letter from the community where the applicant intends to settle; a job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation; TEER levels vary by location (TEER 0–5 for workers already in Alberta; TEER 0–3 for workers in another province or outside Canada); at least 12 months of full-time work experience in the last 18 months in an eligible occupation; language requirements aligned to the TEER level; a Canadian high school diploma or foreign equivalent (with an Educational Credential Assessment if credentials are earned outside Canada); and proof of settlement funds based on family size and community population, applicable mainly to applicants not currently in Canada or not working in Canada.
The Rural Renewal Stream is designed to support Alberta’s rural economic development and population growth through a community-endorsement model.
Provincial nomination figures show the federal government granted Alberta 6,403 nominations in 2026. At the time of reporting, the province has used 822 nominations, leaving 5,581 nominations remaining.
