Alberta Issues Over 120 Invitations Across Five Targeted Immigration Draws

Maple News reports that the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted five targeted provincial nomination draws between June 5 and June 19, 2025, extending more than 120 invitations to potential immigrants. These draws align with Alberta’s ongoing strategy to attract skilled professionals who can positively contribute to its labor market and economic development.

According to the AAIP, candidates were selected based on their work experience, alignment with Alberta’s in-demand sectors, and their potential to integrate and support provincial workforce needs. The draws occurred across both Express Entry-aligned and non-Express Entry streams, reflecting Alberta’s diverse approach to immigration selection.

The first draw, held on June 5, invited 18 candidates under the Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors stream, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 70. Priority sectors in this stream include construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare.

On June 10, Alberta extended 33 invitations through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry stream), to candidates with CRS scores of at least 53. This pathway is specifically tailored to address workforce shortages in the province’s healthcare system.

Another draw on June 17 saw 39 invitations issued via the Tourism and Hospitality stream, targeting individuals with experience in Alberta’s growing service and leisure industries. The cutoff score for this draw stood at 71.

On June 18, the Alberta Express Entry Law Enforcement Pathway held a smaller draw, inviting fewer than 10 candidates with CRS scores of 51 or higher. This pathway supports the province’s need to strengthen its public safety workforce.

The final draw in this period took place on June 19 under the Accelerated Tech Pathway, another Express Entry-aligned stream. This tech-focused draw invited 22 high-demand candidates with scores of at least 73.

These targeted draws are part of Alberta’s broader strategy to use its Express Entry stream to support critical labor needs. In 2025, AAIP will prioritize applicants under its three key Express Entry pathways: Health Care, Tech, and Law Enforcement, along with candidates working in its designated priority sectors.

As of June 19, Alberta had issued 2,535 nominations out of its 2025 allocation of 4,875, leaving 2,340 opportunities available for the remainder of the year. These remaining nominations will continue to be distributed among various streams depending on economic needs and applicant profiles.

By tailoring its immigration selections to both sector-specific and regional workforce gaps, Alberta continues to position itself as a proactive player in Canada’s immigration landscape.
