Maple News reports that Alberta issued a total of 1,324 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) across three provincial immigration draws held between October 1 and October 7, 2025. These draws, part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), targeted eligible candidates in high-demand occupational sectors, including construction and technology.
The largest draw during this period took place on October 1, through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, where 1,003 ITAs were issued to temporary foreign workers currently employed in Alberta. This stream continues to be Alberta’s most active immigration pathway, focusing on candidates with valid job offers from eligible Alberta employers.
On October 3, 230 ITAs were sent under the Alberta Express Entry – Accelerated Tech Pathway. This stream supports skilled tech professionals already employed in, or with valid job offers in, Alberta’s growing tech industry. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this round was 52, one of the lowest of the year—reflecting the province’s strong demand for tech talent.
Another draw was conducted on October 7 under the Alberta Express Entry – Priority Sectors stream, targeting workers in the construction industry. Ninety-one candidates were invited with a minimum CRS score of 60. This draw marks the sixth targeting construction professionals in 2025 as Alberta continues to address labor shortages in the skilled trades.
To date in 2025, Alberta has held 10 draws through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, seven through the Accelerated Tech Pathway, and six targeting the construction sector within the Express Entry-aligned stream. These numbers signal a consistent effort by the province to fortify its labor market with skilled international talent in key industries.
All candidates aligned with the Express Entry system must meet federal eligibility requirements, including language proficiency, education, and work experience. Provincial nomination through AAIP enhances an applicant’s Express Entry profile with 600 additional CRS points, virtually guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residence at the federal level.
These draws reflect Alberta’s strategic focus on attracting workers who can immediately contribute to its economy, especially in sectors where domestic supply is falling short. As tech and construction continue to drive Alberta’s growth, the province is expected to maintain its momentum in selecting skilled professionals ready to join its workforce.
