Alberta has conducted its second-largest immigration draw of the year, inviting a total of 1,125 candidates through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), Maple News reports.
Two separate draws were held between November 10 and 14, resulting in invitations to a significant cohort of skilled workers. The majority of invitations—1,045—were issued on November 10 through the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The minimum score required for these candidates was 55 under the program’s comprehensive scoring system.
A smaller, targeted draw took place on November 14 under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, specifically focused on candidates with healthcare occupations. This priority-sector draw issued 80 invitations to candidates with a cut-off score of 52, supporting Alberta’s ongoing efforts to address labour shortages in critical sectors such as health care.
The November 10 draw was the largest since September 12, 2025, marking it as a key event in the province’s immigration planning for the year. The Alberta Opportunity Stream continues to be the province’s most utilized pathway for economic immigration, with a 2025 allocation of 3,656 nominations. So far, 3,120 of those spots have been filled, leaving 536 spots remaining as of November 19.
To qualify for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, applicants must be temporary foreign workers already residing in the province. Requirements include a valid work permit, a full-time job offer in an eligible occupation from an Alberta employer, and proof that they meet criteria related to language proficiency, education, and work experience.
Meanwhile, the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s draw on November 14 was the second healthcare-focused selection this year. This stream allows the province to nominate candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool. In 2025, there are 660 total nomination spots designated for healthcare and other priority sectors. As of now, 494 nominations have been issued through this route.
The latest draws highlight Alberta’s strategic focus on attracting candidates who not only meet its labour market demands but also show a strong likelihood of economic integration and long-term contribution to the province.
Immigration plays a pivotal role in Alberta’s economic growth strategy, and with fewer than 550 nomination spots remaining across all AAIP streams for 2025, potential applicants are encouraged to act promptly if eligible.
