British Columbia Issues 76 Invitations in Targeted Tech Immigration Draw

Maple News reports that on November 17, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued 76 invitations to immigration candidates through a targeted draw focused on the technology sector. The draw invited applicants through two key BC PNP pathways: Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration.

The selected candidates were part of the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories under the province’s Tech Pilot initiative. This program aims to support British Columbia’s growing tech industry by fast-tracking immigration for professionals with job offers in high-demand tech occupations.

All invited candidates required a minimum score of 80 points across all subcategories, reflecting ongoing demand for skilled talent in the province’s expanding innovation sector.

To be considered for BC PNP’s Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC streams, applicants must first create an online profile and register in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The SIRS evaluates candidates based on several factors including education level, relevant work experience, English language proficiency, and the location of their job offer within the province.

Once invited and approved for a provincial nomination, candidates can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). For those applying through Express Entry, this nomination adds 600 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score—almost guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residence in an upcoming federal Express Entry draw.

British Columbia continues to hold tech-focused draws on a regular basis as part of its commitment to meeting labor market needs and attracting global talent to its innovation ecosystem. The province is among the most active in Canada in nominating skilled immigrants for permanent residence, with weekly draws supporting various sectors.

According to Maple News, the BC PNP’s Tech Pilot remains a key route for international talent pursuing long-term careers in one of Canada’s most vibrant technology hubs.
