Alberta Targets Healthcare, Law Enforcement, and Tourism Workers in Latest AAIP Draw, Maple News Reports

Maple News reports that between April 15 and 27, 2026, Alberta’s Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) issued invitations across four provincial streams, totaling at least 185 invitations. The rounds illustrate the province’s targeted approach to filling critical labour gaps in health care, law enforcement, and tourism and hospitality.

The four streams involved are: Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Health Care); Dedicated Health Care Pathway – non-Express Entry; Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway; and the Tourism and Hospitality Stream.

As of this writing, Alberta has conducted 32 draws in 2026, underscoring a sustained push to attract skilled workers through the AAIP. The latest rounds broke down as follows: on April 27, 2026, the Tourism and Hospitality Stream issued 98 invitations with a minimum score of 71; on April 23, 2026, the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway issued 10 invitations with a minimum score of 58; on April 16, 2026, the Dedicated Health Care Pathway – non-Express Entry issued 37 invitations with a minimum score of 46; and on April 15, 2026, the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Health Care) issued 50 invitations with a minimum score of 55.

The April 15 and 16 draws align with AAIP’s stated 2026 priorities announced earlier in the year. So far in 2026, Alberta has issued more than 5,200 invitations through AAIP, with the vast majority (about 3,025) routed through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

On the federal side, Alberta was allocated 6,403 Provincial Nominee Program slots for 2026. As of April 29, the province had issued 1,849 nominations, leaving about 4,554 nominations still available for eligible candidates.

Maple News will continue to monitor the AAIP program and report on how these targeted streams impact applicants and employers across the province.
