Maple News reports that Alberta has issued a new round of invitations through its immigration program, specifically targeting law enforcement professionals. This marks the fifth draw under the Law Enforcement Pathway for 2025, reinforcing the province’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local policing through strategic immigration.
On August 19, Alberta’s immigration authority, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), invited fewer than 10 candidates to apply through the Alberta Express Entry stream. These invitations came with a remarkably low minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement—just 45. This is among the lowest known cut-off scores for any AAIP draw in 2025, signaling Alberta’s urgency in attracting qualified law enforcement talent.
The Law Enforcement Pathway is one of three targeted streams under the Alberta Express Entry stream. In addition to law enforcement, AAIP also operates dedicated pathways for healthcare professionals and tech workers. These pathways are designed to fill critical labor gaps in high-priority sectors, helping both the provincial economy and public services thrive.
Launched in June 2024, the Law Enforcement Pathway is specifically tailored to support Alberta police recruitment. The initiative allows eligible foreign-trained law enforcement professionals to immigrate more easily, provided they have a valid job offer from a member organization within the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police.
Candidates must also meet all foundational Express Entry requirements to qualify, such as language proficiency, educational credentials, and work experience within a relevant National Occupation Classification (NOC) code. Eligible roles typically include police officers, border services officers, and other public safety personnel.
Alberta continues to leverage immigration to bolster its workforce in essential areas, with law enforcement emerging as a key focus in recent months. This draw underscores not only Alberta’s need for public safety officials but also its broader strategy to attract mission-critical talent under flexible and accessible provincial streams.
Maple News will continue to monitor future AAIP draws as the province adapts its immigration efforts to align with evolving workforce needs.
