The largest draw took place on August 12, when 581 candidates were invited under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. This stream supports qualified individuals already working in Alberta with a valid job offer. To receive an invitation, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 70. This pathway continues to play a critical role in retaining talent already contributing to Alberta’s economy.
Earlier in the month, Alberta conducted two healthcare-themed draws under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway. The first, held on August 7, issued 63 invitations to eligible Express Entry candidates who had a CRS of at least 56. Through this pathway, Alberta can cherry-pick candidates directly from the federal pool, fast-tracking their path to permanent residency in response to growing demand in the province’s healthcare system.
On August 11, the province extended invitations to 39 non-Express Entry candidates through the same healthcare-focused pathway. These applicants needed a minimum score of 53 and are expected to help alleviate staffing shortages in Alberta’s hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program allows the province to nominate individuals whose skills align with current economic priorities. It includes several streams tailored to specific sectors and eligibility requirements, including Express Entry-aligned categories and regional pathways like the Alberta Opportunity Stream and the Dedicated Health Care Pathway.
For prospective applicants, the process often begins with an eligibility check. Those applying through Express Entry-linked streams must maintain an active federal profile. Candidates in targeted occupations—such as healthcare or aviation—should review additional criteria. Alberta typically identifies eligible profiles and issues Notifications of Interest (NOIs), after which selected individuals must submit a full provincial application within the specified timeframe.
