Maple News reports that Prince Edward Island (PEI) has expanded its network of designated employers under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), opening new pathways for skilled foreign workers aiming for permanent residency in Canada.
On May 15, 2025, PEI released an updated list featuring 20 newly designated employers approved to hire international talent through the AIP. At the same time, 14 employers were removed from the program, reflecting the province’s ongoing efforts to align its labour market needs with immigration policy.
The Atlantic Immigration Program is a key federal initiative designed to address acute labour shortages across the Atlantic provinces—Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island—by linking foreign workers with employers in need of labour. To be eligible for permanent residency through the AIP, applicants must have a valid job offer from a designated employer.
With the latest update, PEI now boasts a total of 364 designated employers across various sectors, including construction, healthcare, engineering, tourism, and agriculture. Many of the newly added employers are concentrated in industries experiencing high demand, such as health services and skilled trades.
Among the standout additions are CBI Island Health Centre Inc., Cardigan Bearing And Steel Ltd., Highfield Construction Company Ltd., and Precision G&T Engineering—companies operating in sectors prominently listed as priorities for immigration support. These newly designated organizations are now authorized to recruit qualified foreign nationals under the AIP framework.
This update is a timely development for individuals exploring immigration pathways into Canada via Atlantic Canada, especially as PEI continues to face demographic pressures and skills shortages amid economic growth.
Here is a selection of new employers added to PEI’s AIP list:
– The Pilot House (100367 PEI Inc.) – Restaurant and bar
– FastSigns (100542 PEI Inc.) – Custom signs and graphics
– Stay Golden Customs (9892788 Canada Inc.) – Branding and merchandising
– Majhail Construction Ltd. – Construction
– CBI Island Health Centre Inc. – Healthcare
– TopGum Canada Ltd. – Food manufacturing
This expansion also reflects PEI’s commitment to supporting communities through targeted immigration while ensuring businesses have access to the talent they need to thrive.
As immigration policy continues to evolve, Maple News will continue to bring updates on the Atlantic Immigration Program and other key developments in Canadian immigration.
