Canada Invites 1,490 Candidates in Latest All-Program Express Entry Draw

Maple News reports that on February 13, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 1,490 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in its most recent all-program Express Entry draw. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for an invitation in this round was 535.

This draw included candidates from all three federal economic immigration streams managed through the Express Entry system: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

The relatively high CRS cut-off score suggests IRCC remains focused on selecting highly competitive candidates. For many applicants who did not receive an ITA this round, the results underscore the importance of a strong profile — one that combines education, skilled work experience, and high language proficiency.

To help applicants understand what it takes to succeed in the Express Entry system, IRCC often provides hypothetical profiles. In this case, several sample profiles illustrated FSWP candidates who met or exceeded the 535 CRS threshold. These fictional cases showed variations in age, education level, official language scores, and international work experience.

Before entering the Express Entry pool, candidates must confirm their eligibility for at least one of the three programs. This self-assessment is essential, as only eligible candidates can create a valid profile and become a contender for a future invitation.

The February 13 draw aligns with IRCC’s continued strategy to hold regular all-program draws while occasionally conducting targeted category-based selections. This approach aims to balance Canada’s economic and demographic needs with its immigration targets for 2024.

Express Entry remains one of the most efficient and dynamic pathways for skilled foreign nationals to gain Canadian permanent residence. For prospective immigrants aiming to boost their chances, improving language scores, adding Canadian work or study experience, or securing a provincial nomination are all strategic ways to raise their CRS score.

Maple News will continue to monitor upcoming draws and policy shifts as IRCC refines its immigration targets and strategies in response to labor market demands and demographic transformation.
