Maple News reports that Manitoba has set a new milestone in its immigration efforts, issuing a record 1,017 invitations to Express Entry candidates through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on June 28.
The invitations were extended under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). To be eligible, candidates needed to have a valid Express Entry profile, including an Express Entry ID and a job seeker validation code, along with having previously submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Manitoba’s system.
Only candidates with an EOI score of 565 or higher were selected to receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA). This score is determined using Manitoba’s unique EOI ranking system and is separate from the federal Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Notably, this draw did not consider CRS scores.
Those who receive a provincial nomination from Manitoba stand to benefit significantly — 600 additional points are added to their Express Entry CRS score. This sizeable boost virtually guarantees an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in future federal draws.
The MPNP is a key component of Canada’s broader immigration strategy, allowing provinces to nominate skilled individuals who are best suited to help meet local labor market and demographic needs. Manitoba’s latest draw highlights its continued commitment to attracting global talent and filling critical workforce gaps.
Express Entry is Canada’s centralized immigration system for managing applications under three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. While candidates can receive invitations directly through the federal system, securing a provincial nomination significantly increases their chances of receiving an ITA.
Applicants are ranked in the Express Entry pool based on factors such as age, education, language proficiency, and work experience. Those with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residence in regular federal draws.
This historic Manitoba draw showcases the province’s proactive engagement with globally skilled workers and serves as an excellent opportunity for aspiring immigrants to Canada.
Maple News will continue monitoring and reporting on developments in Canada’s evolving immigration landscape.
