Maple News reports that on June 23, Ontario issued invitations to 583 Express Entry candidates through its popular Human Capital Priorities Stream, a part of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Targeting ten priority occupations, this draw specifically welcomed candidates with profiles in Canada’s Express Entry system and Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 464 and 467.
To qualify, invited candidates were required to have at least one year of work experience in one of the ten selected occupations. These roles spanned a range of high-demand sectors including finance, healthcare, marketing, and business services. The eligible occupations included banking and investment managers, marketing professionals, HR experts, registered nurses, and management consultants, among others.
This draw aligns with Ontario’s ongoing strategy to attract and retain skilled professionals who meet labor market needs in the province. The list of occupations was consistent with previous targeted draws held on February 2 and March 2 of this year, indicating Ontario’s commitment to addressing persistent gaps in these fields.
Being selected for a provincial nomination considerably strengthens a candidate’s chances in the federal immigration system. Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are granted an additional 600 CRS points, effectively ensuring an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a future federal draw.
Canada’s Express Entry system serves as the application management platform for three main federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A provincial nomination doesn’t override the federal requirements but provides a major advantage in the competitive selection process.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) adjusted its draw strategies to prioritize provincial nominees, reflecting a shift toward candidates with strong prospects of settling and succeeding in specific provinces.
Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream continues to play a critical role in offering international talent a clear pathway to permanent residence, while helping the province meet its economic and demographic goals. This draw reinforces Ontario’s position as a top destination for skilled immigrants seeking new opportunities in Canada.
For candidates interested in building a future in Ontario, maintaining an up-to-date Express Entry profile and gaining experience in one of the province’s in-demand occupations can significantly boost their immigration prospects.
