Maple News reports that Saskatchewan conducted a new provincial immigration draw on June 15, 2024, issuing a total of 255 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The invitations were extended under the International Skilled Worker (ISW) category—one of the province’s key immigration pathways targeting skilled foreign talent.
Out of the 255 invitations, 103 candidates were invited through the Express Entry subcategory, which is aligned with the federal immigration system. An additional 152 invitations were issued via the Occupations In-Demand subcategory, which caters to skilled workers who do not have a job offer in Saskatchewan or an Express Entry profile.
To qualify for an invitation, candidates needed a minimum score of 82 points under the SINP Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Applicants were also required to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to verify that their foreign education matched Canadian standards. Eligible work experience in one of Saskatchewan’s 55 in-demand occupations was also essential for consideration.
This latest draw continues a consistent pattern for Saskatchewan, which has been holding EOI-based selection rounds approximately every two weeks. Each draw typically invites around 250 or more candidates, suggesting strong demand for skilled workers across sectors such as healthcare, technology, engineering, and trades.
The SINP’s Occupations In-Demand subcategory plays a vital role in Saskatchewan’s immigration strategy. Unlike Express Entry streams, it allows skilled workers without a Canadian job offer or federal profile to apply for provincial nomination. Candidates are evaluated based on their potential to settle successfully in the province, using factors such as education, experience, language skills, age, and connections to Saskatchewan.
Applicants interested in this stream must first register an EOI through the SINP’s online portal. The system then assigns each profile a score out of 100 using the province’s International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. Top-ranking candidates are invited to apply, which can lead to a nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
Maple News will continue to monitor provincial draws across Canada as provinces seek to attract global talent to meet evolving labor market needs.
