Canada has emerged as the world’s leading dream destination for international professionals, according to a newly published global study. As Maple News reports, the survey conducted by British analytics firm Givetastic analyzed search trends from 164 countries to identify where people most want to work—and Canada came out on top.
Using data from average monthly search volumes for terms like “jobs” and “work abroad” (translated into local languages), the study revealed that 56 countries—more than one-third of the world—named Canada as their preferred work destination. This strong global appeal stems from Canada’s reputation for offering high quality of life, universal healthcare, competitive employee benefits, and a stable job market.
Among the top countries dreaming of working in Canada are the United States, Philippines, Nigeria, Chile, South Korea, and Bangladesh, showcasing the nation’s popularity across both developed and developing economies. Canada stands apart not just as a country but also as a diverse immigration-friendly ecosystem embracing international talent across industries.
The study also highlighted the most sought-after cities and regions for employment migration. While Dubai led the list with top rankings in 69 out of 150 surveyed countries, Quebec followed closely, ranking as the favorite in 28 countries—particularly among workers in Latin America and parts of Africa, including Colombia, Mexico, Morocco, and Cameroon. This underscores the province’s growing global appeal due to its economic opportunities and quality of life.
The broader findings illustrate a notable shift in global work migration interests. Germany and Qatar followed Canada, securing the second and third spots respectively, while others that made the top ten include the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Spain, the United States, Malta, Niger, and Portugal.
Canada’s position at the front of this global ranking aligns with its progressive immigration systems, such as Express Entry and the Global Talent Stream, which prioritize highly skilled professionals. Furthermore, Canada continues to invest in workforce development, making it increasingly attractive to foreign talent.
According to Maple News, this recognition reinforces Canada’s status not only as a top migration destination but also as an economic leader that draws skilled labor through strong governance, inclusive policies, and global cultural appeal.
