SAIT Launches Global Student Ambassador Program to Support International Learners

Maple News reports that the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) has launched a dynamic new initiative aimed at helping international students transition smoothly into life and study in Canada. The Global Student Ambassador Program offers prospective international students the opportunity to connect directly with current SAIT students who have firsthand experience navigating both academic and cultural life in Canada.

Managed through The Ambassador Platform, the program empowers student ambassadors to share their lived experiences using various means—including peer-to-peer online chats, short videos, blogs, and social media-style content. The goal is to provide prospective students with genuine, honest insights into what studying at SAIT is really like, beyond the polished marketing materials.

“Moving to a new country for education is a big leap,” said a spokesperson for SAIT. “This initiative provides real, relatable support from students who’ve made that leap already and can offer valuable advice.” Prospective students can search for ambassadors who speak their language or share similar academic or cultural backgrounds, ensuring personalized and supportive conversations.

Ambassadors are currently available from countries across Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, including Thailand, India, the Philippines, Mexico, and Jordan. Plans are underway to expand representation from Africa, Brazil, and the Caribbean, broadening the program’s reach even further.

Unlike academic advisors, ambassadors don’t provide guidance on immigration or study permits. Instead, they focus on sharing everyday student life—from housing tips and study routines to where to eat on campus and what to expect socially. This peer-driven content allows students to make well-informed decisions about their education and adapt more confidently to life in Canada.

One standout feature is the platform’s online chat functionality, which allows students to reach out from anywhere in the world. Ongoing communication before, during, and even after enrollment is encouraged, offering a continuous stream of support throughout the student journey.

This initiative reflects a growing trend in higher education to humanize the international admissions process, using technology to create authentic, peer-to-peer engagement. By turning current international students into guides, SAIT ensures that future students get a realistic, encouraging, and informative look at what lies ahead.

Maple News will continue to follow developments in international education programs that support newcomers to Canada.
