B.C. and Saskatchewan Target Key Occupations with Latest PNP Invitations; Alberta Shares Updates

Maple News reports that British Columbia and Saskatchewan issued new invitations through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) this week, continuing to target candidates in high-demand sectors. Meanwhile, Alberta has released updates on its provincial immigration program activities.

In British Columbia, the province held three targeted draws under its Skilled Worker – International Graduate stream through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP), including the Express Entry BC pathway. These draws continue to support provincial economic needs by prioritizing occupations that are critical to B.C.’s labor market.

The first B.C. draw focused on tech professionals, issuing 104 invitations to candidates with a minimum score of 94 points. The province continues to place high emphasis on skilled talent in technology, a cornerstone of its growing digital economy.

The second targeted draw sent out 61 invitations to candidates in early childhood education roles, such as educators and their assistants. Meanwhile, the third draw concentrated on healthcare occupations, inviting 25 professionals with experience in medical-related fields. Both draws had a minimum score threshold of 60.

These draws are consistent with British Columbia’s ongoing strategy to support sectors facing persistent labor shortages, including tech, childcare, and healthcare. Similar to federal Express Entry’s category-based selections, B.C.’s approach reflects the province’s responsiveness to both local needs and federal immigration priorities.

Saskatchewan also released draw results from October 23 under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The province held two separate PNP draws, both with a cut-off score of 84. Through its Occupations-In-Demand stream, 40 candidates were invited to apply for permanent residence. An additional 59 ITAs were issued through the Express Entry-aligned stream, targeting those with experience in occupations deemed in-demand within Saskatchewan.

These focused draws reflect Saskatchewan’s commitment to welcoming skilled talent that supports priority sectors and communities across the province.

While Alberta did not conduct new draws this week, Maple News notes the province has provided general updates regarding its PNP operations. Alberta continues to align its provincial selection process with labor market needs and remains an active participant in Canada’s broader immigration strategy.

Overall, the recent PNP activity across British Columbia and Saskatchewan demonstrates how provinces are leveraging their nomination programs to bring in skilled immigrants who can immediately contribute to the economy.
